Was Jesus Christ married? The free believer answer
According to The Da Vinci Code, Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married, but this fact was suppressed by the early Church (pgs. 242-249). There are no ancient claims that Jesus was married, even from
non-canonical writings. Luke 8:1-3 states that three women - Mary, Joanna, and Susanna - traveled with Jesus, but there is no reason to infer from this a romantic relationship between Jesus and Mary.
The “strongest” piece of evidence for a marriage is a fragmented text from the so-called Gospel of Philip, probably composed 200-plus years after the time of Jesus, which claims that Jesus used to kiss Mary. Whether these were supposed to have been platonic kisses on the cheek or forehead or romantic kisses on the mouth is unknown as the text is unreadable at this point.
It should be noted that even this highly suspect text does not claim that Jesus and Mary were married.
